The Netflix Christmas Universe (or NCU, as we like to call it) is coming together, with five new offerings this year almost all having a connection to another Christmas film on the streamer. But “Hot Frosty” also has a very explicit reference to “Mean Girls” — and it’s made by none other than Gretchen Wieners herself.

According to the film’s credits, it was actually filmed in Ontario, Canada. More specifically, the cities Brockville and Ottawa earn special thank yous. So, at least they stayed on the right coast, as Ontario is on the eastern side of Canada. Both are almost straight north of New York, with Brockville being just past the state’s border.

More specifically, the exterior scenes of the downtown area in Hot Frosty were filmed in Brockville, a city in Eastern Ontario in Canada. According to a local news report from the city’s HometownTV12, the ice sculpture competition set was constructed outside of the Brockville city courthouse.
